A classic burger with a juicy, flavor-packed twist! These savory blended burgers are topped with caramelized onions and melted Swiss cheese for irresistible flavor. Want to switch it up? Customize with your favorite burger add-ons – think extra sautéed mushrooms for umami, creamy avocado slices, crisp lettuce and tomato, spicy jalapeños or pickled onions, smoky BBQ sauce or tangy Dijon mustard. However you top it, you can’t go wrong when you start with a blended burger!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 recommended)
  • 4 ounces crimini mushrooms, finely chopped
  • salt & pepper, to taste
  • 1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for onions)
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 tablespoons garlic aioli (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Finely chop mushrooms and blend them into the ground beef. Season with salt and pepper, then form into four patties.
  2. Preheat griddle or grill to medium-high heat.
  3. Cook patties for 5-6 minutes per side, until cooked through and browned.
  4. In a skillet or on the griddle, sauté sliced onions with butter until caramelized.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, top patties with Swiss cheese and let melt.
  6. Toast buns until golden. Spread garlic aioli on each bun.
  7. Assemble the burger with the bun, patty, Swiss cheese, onions and top bun. Serve hot.

This recipe uses Crimini mushrooms

Crimini Flavor and texture

Crimini mushrooms have a stronger flavor and firmer texture than their white button counterparts. This full-bodied umami flavor and hearty texture sings in fresh applications like salads with a crisp satisfying bite. When cooked, the mushroom’s distinct flavor intensifies and lends a pleasant meaty texture to any range of dishes.
